The Arcaani, sometimes called the Arcaani Horselords, are a race of nomadic pilgrims who roam and claim ownership of the grassy plains of Eh-Maheni. Known throughout the land as excellent riders and fierce warriors, the Arcaani are known to follow their great roving herds of cattle in their Buhtah, large wheeled houses that (whilst portable) are also incredibly well made and internally oppulent.
Descended from the Atten (one of the first peoples on the eastern shore of Eh-Maheni to swear fealty to the Maheni empire) the Arcaani have lineages, traditions and stories stretching back a millennia. Their internal system of government seems complex to outsiders, but it is quite common for an Arcaani to know the role and relative rank between themselves and other Arcaani, even if the two have never actually met.
A nomadic people, the Buhtah cities follow the huge herds of cattle across the plains, constantly moving so as not to destroy the grasslands which the cattle need to survive. Large numbers of Arcaani come to the city of Meadowbrook every year, to attend the Seersday Festival, and participate in the trading that happens at that time. The herds of cattle and horse that are traded from these skilled breeders each year significantly contribute to the food needs of the entire population of the eastern coast of the Great ocean, giving them significant financial and political influence.
