As a halfling, Ponk is short of stature and quick of hand. However, he was adopted by a tribe of Orcish barbarians, leading to the development of a very interesting halfling.
Stories are told among Ponk’s tribe of the day that a tiny baby, swaddled and lying in a miniature boat, came floating down the river. The tribe’s shaman foretold great and herioc deeds in the babe’s future, and so the barbarians plucked him from the waters and raised him as their own.
Forsooth, t’was Ponk!
Perplexingly, the boy stopped growing taller at the age of 6. While he continued to mature in other ways, he faced some ridicule and incredulity from his family. His frustratingly positive attitude meant that he took it all in his stride, and was constantly proving himself as he grew up- by the age of 15, he was stronger than many a full size orc.
However, Ponk had been feeling a nagging hole in his heart. Why was he so short? If not an Orc, what could he be? Was there really a greater purpose for him, as the shaman had foretold all those years ago?
Ponk set off on his coming-of-age quest, as was traditional among his people. His quest: to discover his true heritage!
Not too far from his home plains, Ponk came across some halflings. He quickly dismissed them as weak, boring creatures, concluding that he could not possibly be of their ilk.
His journey continues.
